Now, I definitely don't want to downplay any of these items, (because of course I'm GRATEFUL, only a psychopath wouldn't be) But I wanted to break it down and find the obscure things in my life that I really am GRATEFUL to have.

Brown Sugar Pop-tarts (not toasted)
Dolmathes (a Lebanese family favorite)
Zuppa's Turkey, Spinach, Artichoke sandwich
Ruth's Chris Filet Mignon with blue cheese and asparagus (drool...)
Marie Calendar's fresh peach pie with whipping cream to the sky!
Five moments in the last year:
Birth of new baby
Son reaching THREE years of complete remission from cancer!
Oldest daughter discovering the tooth fairy wasn't real
My SCBWI retreat with Leigh Fallon
McDonald family trip to the Grand Canyon
Five tools that help me write:
Thesaurus (love)
iPad
Any scrap of paper I find around the house to jot notes down on
Beta readers (You know who you are!)
Nice Agents
Modern Conveniences:
Lip Gloss
Kitchen Aid Mixer (Love to bake!)
Warm showers
Big Comfy Blankets
Hair straightener

Best husband on the planet
Hazelnut hot chocolate (with whipping cream, not marshmallows!)
Being thirty years old and STILL cavity free!!! (er... it's probably time I go to the dentist... been awhile)
My first partial being upgraded to a full!
Foot rubs
Calling all Gratefuls! What has you smiling the most this holiday season? Is it family related? Twilight related? Or is it as simple as the pair of toe socks you've been dying to pull out from your winter storage? Do any of my top fives coincide with yours? I'd love to hear!
Red. Head. Out. :D
I LOVE this post! Tonight for FHE we actually got together and made a huge list of all the things we're thankful for, and I love my 4 year old's responses. "What about pillows, Mom? And doors!" He just kept listing off all these things I know I take for granted! Great post, I'm so happy your kiddo is cancer-free and especially loved your tools that help you write. I'm right there with you on the Thesaurus! ha ha (and the beta partners, of course, wink wink).
ReplyDeleteAdorable and heartwarming. <3 you, Morgan!!!
ReplyDeleteOff the top of my head, I'm thankful for Stacy's cinnamon and sugar pita chips, which taste like pie crust.
Nice agents was a good one. :)
And I'm thrilled to hear about hitting the 3 year mark with your boy! Yes!
Cort: I'm laughing! Only a four year old would think of pillows and doors! I LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteWendy: Those pita chips sound to DIE for!!!!! And isn't the 3 years crazy??? Feels like two days ago!
And speaking of awesome beta readers... <3 you guys... *wink wink*
Fun times :-)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely NOT grateful for anything Twilight related *blegh*... but I am grateful for good books, my awesome husband, and my fairly recent discovery that I can actually write pretty well! Oh, and our bed... it's comfy, and I love it.
FAB way to do a thankful list :D
ReplyDeleteHow on earth have you lived your whole live cavity free???? I'm so happy your boy's cancer has been in remission for three years, though I can't say I agree about the brown sugar pop tarts ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Page and Jolene!
ReplyDeleteAnd Tiana??? *gasp* !!!! No brown sugar pop tarts??? Don't tell me you're one of those Strawberry pop tart people! Or heaven forbid, a non pop tart person! ;)
I'm cavity free too! Huge blessing when I hate hate hate pain.
ReplyDeleteI'm grateful for so many things. A nice warm bed is on top of the list, but below my family and friends. God is on the top of the list for sure.
I'm grateful for meeting you! You've kept me going through the writing biz and personal issues. Thanks!
Brilliant, Morgan! And ooohhhhh- I'm SO jealous- a Kitchen Aid mixer! That is my ultimate #1 aim to get! They are sooooooo expensive over here, hard to justify getting before things like, um, a car or a mortgage repayment! Lol!
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful for far too many things to mention!
Please tell me she still believes in Santa! We're so obsessed with magical beings here that I can't imagine the day Cedar's bubble gets burst. Last time they were over Austin whispered to me, "she still believes in fairies?" after Cedar had shown him the mini strawberry milkshakes she had left in her fairy garden. I told him she indeed did and he was on his best behavior to not ruin it for her. I think he felt pretty special being in on the secret. :)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all hi, I'm a new follower. Love the blog and who is Ruth and where can I get her recipe for this Filet Mignon with blue cheese and asparagus? *dying here*
ReplyDeleteYou've have a had a busy year and congrats on the baby, cancer-free child and a request for a full - those are all awesome things to rejoice!
For me I am truly grateful year round for even the small things like your pop tarts. But just for you, here's a few I'll share...
My husband's been home from Iraq for one year.
The birth of two grandchildren and a third is on the way (three different married children).
I discovered my midlife crisis on the back of a Harley, and now I want to learn to ride (Something I never thought I'd say).
Happy Thanksgiving :-)
Bahahaha!!! Uh....you better go to the dentist....I don't think it counts if you don't go!!!
ReplyDeleteJulia: Thanks, babe!
ReplyDeleteJen: You. Have. To. Get. One!!!!!!!!
Kris: What a funny story! I'd never heard that! Heh, I still believe in fairies! Hahaha...
Candie: Thanks so much for sharing! Such wonderful things to be thankful for indeed!
LOL, Beckee!!!!!! (Whoa, er... feels weird I just called you that!)
